Increased transfer value report ranks Newcastle United star second highest in the world
A new report has been released on increasing transfer values of players around the world, with one Newcastle United star rating very highly.
This new report is from the CIES Football Observatory and they have looked at all the players worldwide.
Using their statistical model to work out which players will see their transfer value likely increase the most over the next six months.
A period between December 2025 and June 2026.
This is ‘without contract extension and according to a scenario predicting the same performance as in the last six months, both individually (minutes played, starting 11 rate, goal frequency, etc.) and collectively (results).’
In total, the CIES Football Observatory have estimated that 169 players in 23 different leagues worldwide, will see their transfer values increase over the next six months, by at least €5 million (approx £4.4m)
As you can see below in the top ten positions we have concentrated on, Ivorian winger Yan Diomande (RB Leipzig) is at the very top of these rankings.
He has a projected increase of €40.1 million (approx £35.0m). His current value is estimated at €45.7 million and expected to rise to €85.8 million by June 2026.
Greatest likely increase in transfer values for players around the world over the next six months – From December 2025 to June 2026 (million €):
As you can see, Newcastle United star Nick Woltemade is clear second, the new report estimates his current value at €118.8m (approx £103.8m) and they forecast that to rise to €145.0m (approx £126.7m) by June 2026, an increase of €26.2 million (approx £22.9m).
Whilst obviously anything along these lines is always going to be rough estimates, whatever statistical model you use, one thing for certain.
Eddie Howe and the other ‘idiots’ at Newcastle United made an inspired signing when they bought in Nick Woltemade.
Newcastle United paid £65m (plus another £4.3m in potential future add-ons) at the end of August 2025.
According to these CIES Football Observatory estimates, Big Nick has already increased in transfer value to £103.8m, in just over three months. Woltemade taking the step up to the Premier League in his (very long!) stride.
If their forecasts are proved correct and Nick Woltemade has a transfer value of £126.7m by the time we get to June 2026. That would mean the Newcastle United star has doubled his value in ten months, since Eddie Howe swooped to buy him when Bayern Munich refused to meet Stuttgart’s valuation.
Greatest likely increase in transfer values for players around the world over the next six months – From December 2025 to June 2026 (million €), including age of player and contract length remaining:
As you can see, Nick Woltemade will still have five full years left on his Newcastle United contract by the time we get to June 2026 AND at the age of 24 (his birthday is in February) his best years will be still ahead of him. Two massive factors that add to his transfer value, plus of course most importantly, what he contributes on the pitch by then!
