Nick Woltemade has been talking about returning to Germany.

The young striker having flown in on Tuesday with his Newcastle United teammates.

Eddie Howe and his team preparing for this huge game against Bayer Leverkusen.

Newcastle United currently eleventh in the Champions League table but only one point adrift of an automatic qualifying spot for the knockout stages.

Wednesday night will see Nick Woltemade play his first club match in Germany since moving to Tyneside just over three months ago.

The United striker looking forward to the challenge facing Newcastle at the BayArena, a stadium where he previously played with Werder Bremen and Stuttgart.

Nick Woltemade on returning to Germany for this Bayer Leverkusen Champions League match:

“I’m really excited to come back to Germany.

“I already feel at home in Newcastle too, but if I’m honest, to come to your home country again always feel good.

“I’m very happy to be here, where I played some games with my old teams.”

“It will be a tough game [against Bayer Leverkusen].

“This summer, they had a lot of changes at the club with a lot of new players.

“Over the last two years, they’ve been really good and when I played here with (Werder) Bremen, I hardly touched the ball but they played such good football.

“There’s been a lot of changes [for Bayer Leverkusen], a new manager, so I’m excited for what’s coming tomorrow.

“I know they want to play football, still have good players, and you saw they won at Man City. They’re in a good position but we want to win this game.

“I have improved a lot and I think, all in all, it’s been a new step moving to a new country and has been really good for me.

“My physical work is getting better, I can sprint more and go on more duels.

“It’s really important for the Premier League to get this in your mind and the gaffer has worked with me a lot.”

Also today, Eddie Howe talked about Nick Woltemade returning to play in his native Germany:

“He has done brilliantly.

“I have just had the pleasure of half an hour with him on the way here and he is a great person and a great character.

“On the pitch he has done really well, he has fitted in superbly and really bought into the team ethos.

“We need to try and create more for him as a team but the chances he has got he has invariably done well with them.”
