Arne Slot moves to hot favourite in the Premier League sack race

Arne Slot has now raced to the very top spot in the Premier League sack race.

Liverpool on a disastrous run of only four wins in their last fifteen matches.

This disastrous run of form now lasting eleven weeks.

The consensus amongst the media and many Liverpool fans appeared to be that an ‘easy’ run of three matches against West Ham, Sunderland and Leeds, needed to bring in three wins.

In the event, only five points from the three matches.

Lucky to get a late equaliser at home against promoted Sunderland.

Then at the weekend throwing away a two goal lead over Leeds United, retaking the lead, only for Liverpool to concede another equaliser in added time.

To add to the pressure on Arne Slot, we then saw Mo Salah add copious amounts of fuel to the fire, calling out his manager and the club, seemingly making it a situation where one of them has to go…

How things are looking for the 2025/26 running of this Premier League sack race now.

Who will be the next winner?

The following four have already lost their jobs – Nuno (Forest). Potter (West Ham), Postecoglou (Forest again!) and Pereira (Wolves).

These are the current odds generally available from various bookies for the 2025/26 Premier League sack race, who will be the next to leave their PL club, if any…

4/6 Arne Slot

7/2 Daniel Farke

4/1 Scott Parker

12/1 Thomas Frank

16/1 Marco Silva, Ruben Amorim

20/1 Rob Edwards

28/1 Nuno

33/1 Enzo Maresca, Andoni Iraola

40/1 Eddie Howe, David Moyes

50/1 Fabian Hurzeler, Sean Dyche, Keith Andrews

66/1 No Premier League manager to leave during the rest of this season

66/1 Oliver Glasner, Pep Guardiola, Unai Emery, Regis Le Bris

100/1 Mikel Arteta

Who would your money be on?

My thoughts

Difficult to see Arne Slot surviving much longer, unless he starts winning matches.

Liverpool and Arne Slot ‘winning the summer transfer window’ has spectacularly backfired, record amounts of money spent, only to make the Liverpool team and squad seemingly far worse.

In midweek, the scousers face Inter Milan away, the Italians having won four of their five Champions League matches.

Then it is Brighton at home next weekend, the Seagulls having only lost two Premier League matches in the last three months.

Rumours across the media that Steven Gerrard has been lined up by Liverpool as an interim boss when/if Arne Slot is sacked. Considering what a disaster he was at Aston Villa in his only previous Premier League post, Gerrard would be an interesting replacement…
