Manchester United need Eddie Howe is Roy Keane call
Roy Keane says that Manchester United need Eddie Howe.
With Man U descending into yet more of a shambles under the decision making of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, another manager leaves Old Trafford mid-season.
Fourteen months earlier it was Erik ten Hag, now Ruben Amorim sacked this time after having been allowed to spend a fortune only months earlier in the summer 2025 transfer window (as ETH had been allowed to do in summer 2024).
Roy Keane now telling Sky Sports: “I would go with Eddie Howe [for Manchester United], I like what he has done [at Newcastle United and Bournemouth].”
Manchester United in chaos and Roy Keane adding: “You want someone to walk into the dressing room and as soon as he gets there, the players say ‘here we go, we are going places. Personality…You can talk about systems and the tactics but you want somebody to go into the dressing room and get a grip of the players. I don’t mean that in an aggressive way. But get the belief into the players…this is the way we are going, run hard, be attacking, be hard to beat, do the hard yards.”
Man U certainly need somebody credible after the appalling choices they have made time after time.
Roy Keane explaining: “Eddie Howe teams play good football. I know it is not for everyone, he has critics, but I like what he has done at Newcastle United and Bournemouth….I like his calmness. Manchester United need a bit of that. I like people with emotion, I am an emotional person, but I do like his calmness.”
The chances of Eddie Howe swapping what he has built at Newcastle United for Manchester United, are less than zero.
So Roy Keane can dream on: “Eddie Howe has been in the Champions League a couple of times, won the cup. I would like to see him go in there [at Old Trafford].”
As I said, less than zero chance of Eddie Howe going to Old Trafford and certainly not working under the embarrassing Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
I do hear though that a certain massive Manchester United fan and Old Trafford legend is now in between jobs (yet again!), surely Roy Keane must agree that the time has come for his old mate Steve Bruce to finally get his chance, I can’t think of a more perfect match than Man U and Brucey!
