How this Champions League table now looks on Thursday with 6th round completed

This is how the Champions League table looks now on Thursday.

Eighteen Champions League fixtures this midweek, the sixth round of matches played across Tuesday and Wednesday.

Each of the 36 clubs play four games at home and four away in total, in this Swiss League phase.

There were nine Champions League fixtures played on Tuesday 9 December, then another nine yesterday (Wednesday 10 December).

Wednesday’s matches included Bayer Leverkusen 2 Newcastle United 2.

In the Swiss League phase, the top eight clubs will automatically go through to the last 16 knockout stages.

Whilst those 16 clubs finishing between 9th and 24th out of the 36 teams, will go into the play-offs to decide the other eight clubs in the last 16.

This is how it played out these past two days…

Tuesday 9 December

Kairat 0 Olympiakos 1
Bayern Munich 3 Sporting Lisbon 1
Atalanta 2 Chelsea 1
Barcelona 2 Eintracht Frankfurt 1
Inter Milan 0 Liverpool 1
Monaco 1 Galatasaray 0
PSV 2 Atletico Madrid 3
Spurs 3 Slavia Prague 0
Union S-G 2 Marseille 3

Wednesday 10 December

Qarabag 2 Ajax 4
Villarreal 2 Copenhagen 3
Athletic Club 0 PSG 0
Bayer Leverkusen 2 Newcastle 2
Benfica 2 Napoli 0
Borussia Dortmund 2 Bodo/Glimt 2
Club Brugge 0 Arsenal 3
Juventus 2 Pafos 0
Real Madrid 1 Man City 2

That leaves the Champions League table looking like this now, on Thursday 11 December 2025

Things really starting to take shape with this sixth round of games completed.

Newcastle United now in 12th place in the Champions League table, with 10 points and a goal difference of +7.

To make absolutely sure of finishing at least in a play-off position (9th to 24th) for a chance of reaching the last 16 knockout stages, Newcastle United needing three more points.

Whilst last season, 16 points guaranteed an automatic top eight qualifying place for the last 16 knockout stages. Two more wins would take Eddie Howe’s side to 16 points and with United having a better goal difference than all but Inter Milan of the teams outside the top three in the table, I think very likely NUFC would finish top eight if getting six more points from the last two league matches.

With PSV to come for Newcastle United at home on 21 January 2026 and PSG away, seven days later.
