Hundreds of Newcastle United season ticket holders put their tickets for Leeds up for sale
Ahead of tonight’s match against Leeds United, hundreds of Newcastle United season ticket holders have now put their tickets up for sale.
The match is an 8.15pm kick-off in the Premier League, as Eddie Howe’s side look to make it three wins in a row and potentially move top five, if other results also go their way.
The club allow Newcastle United season ticket holders to sell their tickets for individual Premier League games.
Using the online club system, season ticket holders can make their ticket available for a league match, with Newcastle United members then able to go onto the NUFC official ticketing site (you have to be then logged in as a member to see the tickets that are available) to buy.
I went onto the ticketing site the other day and bought one of the tickets for a family member, that had been put up for resale, at that point there were a few dozen tickets that Newcastle United season ticket holders were trying to sell.
I have then monitored it since then and whilst more tickets put up for sale by Newcastle United season ticket holders have been bought by NUFC members, the numbers showing as available have kept on growing.
So much so that when I looked at 9.15am, eleven hours ahead of kick-off, there were just under three hundred tickets (UPDATE – Checked again at 3pm and 374 tickets for sale) available to buy, that have been put up for resale by Newcastle United season ticket holders.
I think this will be due to a combination of any number of reasons.
As well as Newcastle United season ticket holders who just can’t be bothered to go to this Wednesday night late kick-off on a not very warm night, some will have work, travel, illness, family, general life issues impacting.
You also of course have some people thinking after an expensive festive season, wanting/needing to get a few quid in return for sacrificing their seat. Plus having six home games in a three week period is a real extreme.
There are also tickets available in areas used by disabled fans, I can imagine a January night match in the cold presents extra challenges for a number of the supporters usually in those sections.
On a school night, a fair few tickets are also individual kid ones in the Level 7 Family Enclosure. These are only available to buy for Newcastle United members who are aged 14-17.
Hopefully all of these seats, or at least the vast majority of them, end up getting filled for this Leeds match.
Whether by NUFC members buying them up, or Newcastle United season ticket holders accepting in the end that they won’t be able to sell them and going to the game. Or passing them on to friends and family, who may or (cough, cough) may not be, Newcastle United members.
