Looking at this Newcastle team v Burnley.

Our next match in the Premier League.

Newcastle United looking to make it 10 points from a possible 12 in the four Premier League matches following the November internationals.

Whilst if United get the win this afternoon, it could see them move into the top half of the table.

Eddie Howe’s side facing a team that have lost their last five Premier League matches.

As a reminder, this was the Newcastle team v Spurs:

Ramsdale, Livramento, Thiaw, Burn, Hall, Joelinton, Tonali, Miley, Barnes, Jacob Murphy, Woltemade

Eddie Howe gave an update on Friday, regarding the injury and availability for the squad ahead of Saturday’s match.

It looks like at least four Newcastle United players won’t be involved against Burnley, with Nick Pope, Sven Botman, Will Osula and Kieran Trippier sitting this one out.

Eddie Howe saying that after training on Friday he would be considering whether Sandro Tonali is able to be in today’s matchday squad after forced off with a knock against Spurs. Whilst a possibility as well that Yoane Wissa could be on the bench today, depending on how he got on in training yesterday.

So taking all of that into consideration…

This is my predicted Newcastle team v Burnley:

Ramsdale, Livramento, Thiaw, Burn, Hall, Joelinton, Bruno, Miley, Barnes, Gordon, Woltemade

If my prediction becomes reality, it would mean two changes from Spurs in midweek. With Gordon and Bruno replacing Murphy and Tonali.

Fair to say that Aaron Ramsdale and his defence could have done better with the two Tottenham goals, the visitors ending up scoring with their only two efforts on target.

However, I think Eddie Howe will stay with the same five.

Bruno looked to have benefitted from having that first half rest against Spurs on Tuesday night and can hopefully continue that second half form into this one.

With four days between matches, Joelinton should hopefully be ok for this one as well. Even if Sandro Tonali is passed fit for this one, my feeling is that Eddie Howe will have him on the bench and be looking to make sure he is fully fit for Leverkusen on Wednesday. Lewis Miley has been doing well and I see him continuing that today.

So that is my predicted midfield trio but at the same time, I wouldn’t be surprised if Jacob Ramsey starts today. Joe Willock has also done well in his recent appearances, so with all of these matches in quick succession, Eddie Howe will be looking to balance things across the schedule.

Hopefully in the near future we will see Yoane Wissa in a starting eleven but Nick Woltemade will of course be up front today. Murphy was poor on Tuesday and I think he will drop to the bench, with just then the question of whether Gordon or Elanga comes in, or even possibly both of them?

My money is on Barnes to be moved across to the right and Gordon play down the left. The former Everton winger was excellent off the bench on Tuesday and hopefully this is the start of him getting into a run of form and keeping fully fit.
