Premier League teams measured against each other when it comes to winning football matches
Newcastle United as measured up against the other Premier League teams.
How do we gauge it?
Which Premier League team is outperforming a rival?
For Newcastle United and the rest, it surely comes down to what it always does.
How many matches you are winning!
So I have had a look at all 20 Premier League clubs this season…
We are now five months into the 2025/26 season, this is how many matches each Premier League team has won across all competitions (as of the morning of 12 January 2026):
25 Arsenal
21 Man City
19 Aston Villa
16 Newcastle United
15 Liverpool, Chelsea
14 Brentford
13 Fulham
12 Palace
11 Spurs
10 Brighton
9 Forest, Everton
8 Man U, Sunderland
6 Bournemouth, Leeds
5 Burnley
4 West Ham, Wolves
As you can see above, when it comes to the business of winning football matches, only three have won more than Newcastle United
Maybe not quite the disastrous season that many pundits, journalists and indeed, some Newcastle United fans, have been bizarrely and desperately claiming.
Eddie Howe overseeing 16 wins so far, with nine coming in the Premier League, three in the Champions League, three in the Carabao Cup, then one now in the FA Cup.
As for our friends down the road, Newcastle United have now won exactly twice as many matches this season as the Mackems have.
