‘He should be starting for England…’ Troy Deeney
Troy Deeney has picked his best 12 performers from the weekend action.
The Premier League team of the week (and manager) that have most impressed him.
Included in his dozen choices is one from Newcastle United.
This NUFC player with once again a superb performance in the 0-0 draw against Wolves.
Not a great team performance but yet again, Lewis Hall showing star quality.
Troy Deeney explains why he has chosen this Newcastle United star for his Premier League team of the week and then the full eleven (twelve) are listed below:
Lewis Hall (Newcastle United):
“He was the best player on the pitch by a country mile during Newcastle’s 0-0 draw at Wolves on Sunday and he’s starting to make the case that he should be starting for England. That’s how good he has been this season.”
Troy Deeney Premier League team of midweek:
Robert Sanchez (Chelsea)
Alex Jimenez (Bournemouth)
Harry Maguire (Man U)
James Tarkowski (Everton)
Lewis Hall (Newcastle United)
Crysencio Summerville (West Ham)
Ethan Ampadu (Leeds United)
Enzo Le Fee (Sunderland)
Bruno Fernandes (Man U)
Patrick Dorgu (Man U)
Bryan Mbeumo (Man U)
Manager:
Michael Carrick (Man U)
Lewis Hall is simply a brilliant player.
He has been exceptional since Eddie Howe felt he was ready to start, week in week out, when the 2024/25 season kicked off.
Still only 19 at the time, Lewis Hall incredibly good and so unlucky to pick up that season ending injury at Liverpool, just a couple of weeks before Newcastle United defeated…Liverpool, to lift the Carabao Cup.
A joy to watch, he has incredible talent on the ball, lifelong Newcastle United fan Lewis Hall is a player who I would love to see spend the rest of his career at St James’ Park.
He is absolutely nailed on to be on the plane to the World Cup finals this summer and is indeed ‘a country mile’ better than any rival at another club for the England left-back spot, including the likes of Spence at Spurs and Lewis-Skelly at Arsenal.
Indeed, his toughest competition is Tino Livramento, but his favourite position is right-back and he will also be on the plane for the World Cup, competing for that position with England.
