VERY interesting new report on Premier League teams most affected by injuries this season
A new report has now detailed which Premier League teams have (and haven’t) been most affected by injuries this 2025/26 season.
The report published by BBC Sport.
You will be VERY interested to see which which of the Premier League teams has been most affected so far.
Ben Dinnery is an industry expert when it comes to analysing injuries in football, interpreting the data, he is also a huge Newcastle United fan.
In the BBC Sport report Ben is quoted:
“We are working in a league that is considered the most intense and dynamic, and that is reflected in the statistical analysis of sprints and high intensity runs, but also lessening recovery times. You then throw in the football calendar and they are coming together to create an environment where players are being pushed, and sometimes broken, because they are not physically capable of tolerating those demands.”
So which of the Premier League teams have lost the most days to injury so far in this 2025/26 season?
640 days Newcastle United
625 Spurs
603 Arsenal
580 Chelsea
514 Brighton
512 Man City
510 Forest
432 Villa
426 Leeds
380 Wolves
377 Fulham
362 Bournemouth
354 Liverpool
341 Man U
339 Palace
302 West Ham
287 Everton
262 Brentford
252 Sunderland
219 Burnley
The BBC Sport report stating: ‘Newcastle have lost the most days of any club to injury, and Eddie Howe’s squad has been stretched as they continue to compete on four fronts..’
To me, this further emphasises what a brilliant job Eddie Howe has done this season (as well as the previous seasons).
So many obstacles thrown in his way, from Alexander Isak to only one of his six summer signings having any pre-season with their new NUFC teammates, plus many other issues.
Including, the worst record of all Premier League teams, when having to deal with injuries this season (interesting as well to see how lucky Sunderland have been, only Burnley carrying more luck when it comes to injuries).
