The question we were asking Newcastle United fans on Monday was: Newcastle United no silverware but qualify for Champions League this season, would it be success or failure?

We are now over five months into the 2025/26 season and very mixed results.

In total, Newcastle United have now played 33 matches.

This has produced overall results of played 33 won 16, drawn 7 Lost 10

When splitting that down by competition…

In the Premier League it is played 22, won 9, drawn 6, lost 7

In the Champions League it is played 6, won 3, drawn 1, lost 2

In the Carabao Cup it is played 4, won 3, drawn 0, lost 1

In the FA Cup it is played 1, won 1, drawn 0, lost 0

As things stand, Newcastle through to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Newcastle United in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup but 2-0 down ahead of the second leg.

All but guaranteed a play-off place for the last 16 in this season’s Champions League and if winning their last two games, almost certainly automatic progress.

Newcastle eighth in the Premier League but only two points off fifth and three points off fourth.

So, if at the end of the 2025/26 season it is a case of: Newcastle United qualify for the Champions League via Premier League top four/five but don’t win any silverware.

Would that represent a successful season, or failure? Vote below please.

The votes are now in…

6% Failure

94% Success

When asking these type of questions in polls, we rarely know for sure how Newcastle United fans are going to vote. Or even if confident of what most fans will go for, we aren’t sure at all of how strong that vote will be.

Obviously, you can’t get much more resounding than 94% and very interesting that so many Newcastle United fans (who voted) accept that a third Champions League qualification in four years would represent a successful season for NUFC.

Many thanks to everyone for taking the time to vote.
