Harry Redknapp picks out two stand out Newcastle United stars
Harry Redknapp has picked out two Newcastle United stars.
The former Bournemouth and Spurs boss choosing his best 11 performers from the midweek action, the Premier League team has most impressed him.
Included in his top 11 are two stand out Newcastle United players.
Players who in Harry’s opinion contributed so much to the stunning 4-3 victory over Leeds United.
A match where three times Leeds went ahead.
Only for Newcastle United to equalise three times AND then that final goal in the 12th minute of added time…
Harry Redknapp explaining why he chose the scorer of the winning goal…“Harvey Barnes has to be in the side. What a ridiculous game that was against Leeds and Barnes got himself a couple of goals. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing! He’s been one of Newcastle’s best players this season.”
With Harvey Barnes, when he gets the ball in potential goalscoring positions, there is nobody you would rather be relying on to score. However, he can be a bit anonymous at times and often he looks far more dangerous when used off the bench.
On this occasion though, Harvey Barnes starting the game, scoring Newcastle’s first equaliser AND then that winner deep into added time.
Harry Redknapp explaining to BetVictor his other Newcastle United choice: “I’m putting Lewis Miley at right-back. The young lad’s been excellent for Newcastle over the last few games, even in an unnatural position. For a young player to do so well out of position tells me a lot, he’s clearly a good character and obviously Eddie has a lot of trust in him.”
Certainly no disagreement from me on this one.
Lewis Miley is simply looking better and better, no matter where he plays in the team.
On Wednesday night, the teenager actually starting at right-back, then moved to midfield, before finally ending the game at centre-back, with Thiaw having been subbed off and Schar stretchered off.
Simply outstanding from Lewis Miley, plus he was the one who did so well to keep the ball in play and then pass to Bruno, who then put in that quality outside of the boot cross for Joelinton to head home.
