The World Cup draw was ‘interesting’, to say the least.

Very long, but eventually, the process was complete.

The first ever time a 48 team World Cup finals will take place.

The matches to be shared between Canada, Mexico and the United States.

With so many more teams and matches, the 2026 World Cup finals will last almost six weeks. Kicking off on 11 June 2026 and the final on 19 July 2026.

Many Newcastle United players taking a keen interest in this World Cup draw.

Waiting to see which group their countries would be drawn in.

Plus of course some Newcastle United stars, such as Yoane Wissa and Sandro Tonali, still needing their teams to get through the play-offs next year.

This is how the World Cup draw looked, once it was (eventually!) completed.

World Cup Groups 2026

England will begin their World Cup 2026 campaign against Croatia, so the likes of Dan Burn, Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall, Nick Pope and Anthony Gordon hoping to be in the squad.

Scotland have been drawn alongside Brazil, so we wait to see if Harvey Barnes will convert to the Scottish cause, potentially facing Bruno and Joelinton.

Whilst both Malick Thiaw and Nick Woltemade will be dreaming of facing Curacao.

Hopefully the Newcastle United players listed above and plenty others, including Sandro Tonali and Yoane Wissa will be involved next summer, on the back of a brilliant 2025/26 NUFC season…
