Troy Deeney declares ‘It looks like he’s found a spiritual home’ on Newcastle United star
Troy Deeney has picked his best 12 performers from the weekend action.
The Premier League team of the week (and manager) that have most impressed him.
Included in his dozen choices are two from Newcastle United.
These NUFC players with stunning performances in the 2-1 victory over Manchester City.
Troy Deeney explains why he has chosen these two Newcastle United stars for his Premier League team of the week and then the full eleven (twelve) are listed below:
Malick Thiaw (Newcastle):
“I watched him a few times last year in Italy for AC Milan and he was getting killed because he was making mistakes.
“But at Newcastle he’s been a monster.
“He’s been really strong and powerful and looks elegant.
“It looks like he’s found a spiritual home.”
Harvey Barnes (Newcastle):
“A really interesting player.
“He plays well, usually better off the bench, but Anthony Gordon has an injury so he has to play.
“He missed a huge chance against Manchester City at 0-0 with his easiest shot.
“But to have the mental fortitude to put himself in difficult situations and score twice was great.”
No arguments from me on these Troy Deeney selections.
A match where the entire Newcastle United team played their part.
I have to say though, Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento were superb on their returns to the starting eleven after time out due to their respective injuries.
Going back to Malick Thiaw though, yet another absolutely inspired Eddie Howe signing. The United boss had been after him for a long time and wow, what an outstanding addition to the team.
