Harry Redknapp explains this special Newcastle United stand out
Harry Redknapp has picked his best 11 performers from the weekend’s action.
The Premier League team of the weekend that has most impressed him.
Included in his top 11 is a stand out Newcastle United player.
A player who in Harry’s opinion contributed so much to the demolition job at Everton.
A superb 4-1 away win for Eddie Howe and his team.
Harry Redknapp explaining to BetVictor why he chose this Newcastle United star amongst his Premier League team of the week:
Sanchez is a lad that’s come in for some stick down the years at Chelsea, but there’s no doubt he had an excellent game against Arsenal. That was a great point for Chelsea in the end, and he was vital for it, making some top saves in the game.
Fair play to Joe Gomez, he came in from out the cold and had an excellent game at West Ham. He really shored up that backline but chipped in with an assist too. I’d be surprised if he’s not involved a lot more moving forward.
Andersen seemed to be involved in everything in the Spurs game. He was classy on the ball, dealt with everything that came his way and got involved in some handbags with a few Spurs lads, a real captain’s performance!
Thiaw has been a revelation at Newcastle, what a bit of business this has been. This lad was fantastic against Everton from a defensive standpoint and then chipped in with two headers. He looks like he’ll be a mainstay in this side.

De Cuyper was playing slightly further forward against Forest, but I’ll put him at left-back here. He was terrific and a real threat on the left for Brighton. He got a goal, created plenty and I was very impressed by him.
I don’t like picking lads who were on the losing side, but I’ve got to have Tyler Adams, what a goal that was! That was such a great finish, and he made it look so much easier than it was.
Speaking of great goals, Kamara’s for Villa, wow! This lad is a very good player but he’s hardly prolific and I certainly didn’t think he had this in the locker. To settle a big game like that with such a great strike is a big moment for the lad and for Villa, they’re flying right now.
Reece James was playing in midfield again here and boy, what a player he is. He was top class against Arsenal, driving and leading his side from midfield. Whether it’s right-back or in the centre of the park, I don’t see many better footballers than him. No one’s ever questioned this lad’s talent; it’s just the injuries have always been a concern.
My star man this week is Phil Foden, it was great to see him look more like himself. Two trademark finishes on that left peg of his won that game against Leeds and that could be a big moment for him and for City come the end of the season. This should hopefully give him a big confidence boost moving forward.
Gakpo had a good game for Liverpool in that win at West Ham. He’s clearly a lad that Slot trusts a lot, and you can see why, he delivered for him here with a goal and an assist in what was such a vital game. It’s important they build on this moving forward.
Igor Thiago just can’t stop scoring! This lad has probably been the revelation of the season so far. Brentford are doing so well and this boy is a huge reason why, to get 11 in the league already is amazing. Haaland might have competition for the golden boot at this rate!
