Newcastle United fan/writer reaction after Newcastle 2 Spurs 2
Newcastle 2 Spurs 2 – Tuesday 2 December 2025 8.15pm
Newcastle United fan/writer reaction from some of our regular contributors on The Mag.
Nat Seaton:
‘What a disappointing result. We had plenty of chances to have had the match won, ahead twice and didn’t hold on.
Great first goal from our Captain and Gordon took his penalty well.
Two points dropped at home on a night when at times we played well but just didn’t have ‘enough’ on the night.
Hopefully a better result to come on Saturday.’
Simon Ritter:
‘We had our chances but didn’t take enough of them.
Bruno Guimaraes showed why he is Newcastle’s captain, Anthony Gordon scored his first Premier League goal since January and, most importantly, Tottenham gained an unlikely point by scoring with their only two chances on target.
Four goals at Everton disguised a worrying bout of sloppy passing. The difference tonight was that Spurs had somebody who could take advantage of Newcastle’s less-than-watertight defending.
Others can comment on Aaron Ramsdale’s performance.’
Billy Miller:
‘Devastating to drop two points.
We were worthy of the win and seemed like we had it until an obscene amount of injury time and the worst bicycle kick in history robbed us. I have no idea how that went in. Everyone seemed frozen as the ball hit Romero’s shin and nonchalantly bounced past three defending players and the keeper.
A positive to see Gordon avoid the ignominy of going a full year without a PL goal. He also played a huge part in a terrific move for the opener.
It was never going to be an easy game but for much of it… it was. We just didn’t do quite enough.’
Matt Busby said…:
‘Very flat after watching that.
We were poor but should have won.
Twice ahead but pegged back both times. Roll on Burnley.’
Tony Mallabar:
‘Being Newcastle’s number one fickle fan, am going to call this now.
Rarmsdale is definitely not the answer.
At Brentford the other week Pope came out and punches the ball (while the whole away end is screaming at him to catch it) and Brentford score. So what does Ramsdale do tonight when under pressure?
He bottles it. Punch out and they score, unbelievable.
Don’t know what’s up with Tonali recently but young Mileycastle again my man of the match.’
Mark Jankowski:
‘A hugely disappointing draw on a night where Newcastle were comfortably the better side for all but a few key minutes.
Newcastle controlled the first half but the best opportunity was a stinging shot from Joelinton that crashed off the post.
Bruno’s introduction at halftime added some much-needed cutting edge but we relaxed too much after taking the lead and allowed a soft equaliser.
We managed to regain control of the game and were rightly awarded a penalty after Burn was hauled down. Disappointingly we were pegged back again after some static defending allowed Romero to attempt a speculative overhead kick that somehow found the back of the net. Having watched the replays, I think it’s one Nick Pope would have saved.
Still, despite the disappointment, it’s not an awful point.
If we back it up with a win, we should go into derby day ahead of the Mackems.’
GToon:
‘Decent performance despite the result.
I knew they would equalise. Just felt it coming. Real shame our two CBs left that shinned effort or it would have been three points.
All the lads tried hard to varying degrees of success.
Good to see Miley getting another game. We have good options off the bench now.
Tbh I would have taken a draw in this game. I think a lot of ppl felt this would be a tough test.
If we win v Burnley then 7 points from these 3 games would be a very decent return. Happy ish days.’
David Punton:
‘Two points well and truly dropped.
Spurs scoring with their two shots on goal, so that was tough to take, as the officials added on nine minutes.
There are just too many games at the moment and it’s all about managing it.
Where Spurs are concerned, you always feel we can do them damage, but they’ve wriggled off the hook tonight.
We can definitely play better this, and we will, but it’s a marathon season.
Great goal from Bruno. Miley looked good.
After that amazing win at the weekend it’s often hard to hit the same heights again.
As ever, we’re desperate for Wissa to come back and add some goal power.’
