Fulham fans commenting post-match.

Intriguing to read what they have been saying about Newcastle United…

United making it eight wins and one draw in their last nine home games in all competition.

Most importantly, Eddie Howe’s team through to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup yet again.

Whilst for Fulham fans, they have had to reflect on yet another failure to win a first trophy in the club’s history….

Fulham fans commenting via their Friends of Fulham and FulhamWeb message boards:

‘A dreadful performance by us, deserving nothing against a poor Newcastle team.’

‘Main thing Newcastle had better subs than us.’

‘I thought Newcastle played poorly and we played well but lost.’

‘This was a repeat of the last minute corner defeat against Palace. However at the end of the day, as two legged semi-final against Manchester City, was the last thing we would have would have needed, as it would have had only one outcome, as Newcastle will discover. Overall I thought we played well.’

‘When it got to 90 minutes I was waiting for the inevitable winner from Newcastle I only had to wait a few seconds.’

‘We are destined to stay the also ran men. It was unfortunate that three of our best players were in Africa yesterday evening, they could have made a difference in defence, midfield and attack.’

‘Yet once again Fulham lose in final minutes. We do this so many times. Must be 8 games this season where we lose in injury time or a couple of minutes before 90.’

‘Let’s be honest that was a poor display again . Marco is not the wonderful manager we think he is’

‘It’s the away fans I feel sorry for. I used to go to the odd away game years ago but I’d not go further than Watford now.’

‘Guys have you seen a worst Newcastle side yet we are as bad. Can’t string 2passes together and lifeless. Tete really poor and others similar looks like the only hope is penalties. We are so lucky that Newcastle really poor as sensed by this crowd.’

‘Just heard them say on Sky Sports that Fulham are the biggest club in England not to have won a major trophy.’

‘The Intertoto was a major trophy surely??’

‘Eeer Brighton and Hove Albion.’

‘He said “Biggest”. Brighton might be second.’

‘I have to respectfully disagree, bigger ground, higher attendances home and away, finished above us in recent years.

Agree we have the history but they are a bigger club sadly.’

‘Only a Fulham fan would argue that Brighton is a bigger team than Fulham…’

‘If the League Cup is a major trophy then surely the intertoto is also a major trophy. They both give/gave the winner a spot in a European cup.’

‘Feel sorry for them that travelled, should be compensated by the club…Terrible performance.’

‘Hardly, we were 5 minutes from a penalty shoot out playing away to a Champions League team stacked with quality. On top of that we were missing five first teamers.’

‘A champions league team, who are struggling in our league you should have said.’

‘Wasn’t a bad performance, and they never got a sniff, despite loads of possession, until injury time. Although, to be fair, they did employ a very old tactic of trying to score a goal, throughout the whole of the second half. We should have given that a go too..’

‘Far from rubbish or terrible. We did very well first half but ran out of steam. We worked hard pressed them all over the pitch until ESR, Kevin, Raul were all running on empty. 2nd half all Newcastle. ‘

‘More content for my thesis that Marco can’t motivate our team for big occasions. We have had fairly good draws at late stage in cups recently and have not been able to progress (Newcastle today with a weakened team, especially in defence.’

‘Gutted,

I wasn’t too positive coming into the match but the first 20/25 mins got me very excited.

But then the game shifted and we seemed lacklustre.

In the end it was a bit of a poor performance.’

‘Basically their Bench won it for them’

‘Tonight was senseless, i think marco should have rested players rather than try and win. their bench oozed quality, ours was no match.’

‘It’s the hope that kills you!

Marco has done a good job with us, but maybe he is right and we have no ambition, Or, we don’t have the funds to spend on players like Newcastle!

Not sure I’ll see a Cup winning Fulham team anytime soon unfortunately.’

‘Yes we could’ve changed our strike force (taken Raul off) and brought on an on-loan 18 year old striker…. Newcastle took off a £55m striker and replaced him with a £70m striker…simple facts’
